Rapidly growing in popularity among the eight to 14 year-olds in Australia and New Zealand is triathlon, containing all the disciplines they particularly love – swimming, cycling and running.
However, until now it had been difficult to find the right gear for them to participate and feel totally comfortable, hence the new O’ahu range.
The collection is designed and manufactured on Hong Kong, by Impresa IDF,a company with strong family ties to the sport and many years of apparel manufacturing.
Says director Ilaria Galimberti, “The impetus for the creation of a brand dedicated to triathlon race apparel for the youngest age categories was born out of need. “When my son Charlie, joined his first ITU race in Hong Kong's Disneyland in 2008 at eight years of age, it proved hard to find proper apparel for him.
“Seeing that my brother Federico and I have been manufacturing sports and fashion apparel in Asia for the last 20 years, we combined the love of triathlon which runs in the family mainly through nine time Ironman James, (and daddy to the newest generation) to our apparel know how and O'ahu was born.
“We are designing fresh, appealing, technical triathlon race apparel to allow the youngest age groups to compete their hardest and perform at their best.
“The garments have been designed with comfort and functionality in mind, most can be used for swimming, biking and running, eliminating the need to change.”
The range includes tri suits, race suits, swimsuits, tops and shorts – using technical fabrics with SPF rating of 50+, great designs, reflective prints and logos.
Named after the home of triathlon in Hawaii, O'ahu also offers a small line of accessories, including race belts, caps and bags.
The range is distributed in Australia by Peter Lewis of Core Products.
