Camping grounds full as budgets tighten
The industry is still gathering figures for Christmas and New Year but anecdotally, it has been another great season for the camping and outdoor leisure area of the marketplace.

In spite of the wet weather in many parts of the country over Christmas and New Year, bushfires and cyclones, camping grounds have been full with the sold out signs up in most places.

Outdoor specialist store chains report good sales with electronics, small tents and air mattresses topping the sales league table.

The IBISWorld industry report for caravan parks and camping grounds recorded that the 2008 industry revenue was $1,167 million, growth of 5.6 percent over the previous year, with more than 1,650 parks and grounds Australia-wide.
