Ispo in Munich closed its doors with excellent exhibitor, visitor, and exposition space statistics, after its 70th show, and its 40th year.
More than 64,000 international visitors from 177 countries came to preview new trends and innovations in early February , report organisers.
This is a new visitor record and represents an increase of seven percent with 68 percent of visitors coming from outside Germany.
Exhibitors numbered 2,045 from 45 countries , an increase of five percent and covered 15 halls at the New Munich Trade Fair.
Sportslink’s European correspondent Hank Aldrich reported that the show “was a huge success again.
“I think the mood is definitely more positive than in the US, and brands are still spending on the booths and showcasing their products, especially ski and snow board brands.
“The compression clothing is also a very big new segment in Europe. Both Skins and X-Bionic had very large stands. CW-X and 2XU were also there, but with much smaller stands.
Under Armour Europe reported they did not see a need to exhibit, as they had done so three years ago and now have their distribution set, so marketing money is going into team sponsorships including a German Bundesliga soccer club and POS materials.”
Hank Aldrich reported, “The outdoor brands I spoke to all seemed pretty positive. There is still a push for making the business more sustainable, for example German brand Vaude announced a move to use the Sympatex laminates for their outerwear because of its Blue Sign certification and environmentally friendly manufacturing techniques.”
European retailers are having a good winter, reports Aldrich, as the weather is cold and snowy but the feeling is that they will continue to order conservatively for next season,.
Products such as sleds, skates, and some snow sports products sold out because of the good snow conditions and cold weather in Europe.
